Who we are

We started Green Pledge because we were tired of vague claims and greenwashing. Too many businesses say the right things, but there's no easy way to know who actually follows through.

So we created a solution: a transparent, no-nonsense certification based on a clear framework. Our process assesses businesses against a set of clear standards across three core pillars: ethical business practices, environmental responsibility, and honesty.

We’re an independent non-profit, built to help people trust what they’re supporting, and help businesses prove they’re doing things right.

Our 3 Pillars

  • We look at how a business treats its workers and partners — from fair pay to responsible sourcing and pay ratios. It’s about doing the right thing behind the scenes, not just at the front.

  • We assess how a business impacts the planet — from packaging and materials to wider environmental action. This is about making real, measurable efforts to reduce harm.

  • We check whether a business is clear, truthful, and upfront — with customers, with us, and in their marketing. No vague claims, no greenwashing — just proof to back up what they say.

FAQs

What does certification involve?

The process starts with a quick initial enquiry form. If eligible, you’ll then complete a full assessment form, including submitting evidence. We assess everything against our framework.

How do you make sure brands are being honest?

We don’t take claims at face value. Brands must provide real proof for every requirement — and we only certify what we can verify.

Who can apply for certification?

Any registered business that believes it meets our standards — whether you're a startup, independent brand, or established company. We work with businesses of all sizes.

Can I trust the Green Pledge badge?

Yes — we’re independent, non-profit, and have no hidden agenda. If a business is certified, it means it met the same strict standards as everyone else. We’re a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) and submit an annual report to show how we’re delivering real benefits to the community.

What do certified brands get?

Certified businesses receive a certification pack with a digital badge, a spot in our verified brand directory, and access to marketing materials that help them communicate their impact with confidence.

How much does certification cost?

We currently use a tiered pricing system based on your annual revenue, so smaller businesses pay less. To find out where your business fits, just contact us or submit an initial enquiry form — we’ll be happy to talk you through it.
